Impact Evaluation of the S.L.A.T.E at Kunnathunaad Educational Intervention Project

As part of our continued partnership with the S.L.A.T.E initiative, Nayaneethi Policy Collective acted as the RAAR (Review, Audit, Analysis & Research) team, which conducted an in-depth impact evaluation of the BPCL-funded multi-component education intervention across 21 government schools in Kunnathunad Constituency, Ernakulam district.

The intervention reached over 12000+ students and engaged hundreds of teachers, aiming to enhance learning outcomes, support teacher practices, and strengthen institutional coherence in the public education system.

The evaluation adopted a pre–post survey design and employed a mix of quantitative and qualitative tools, including structured questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions. Evaluation of each component of the intervention had tailored instruments to ensure contextual relevance and analytical depth. Our team coordinated with the respective component delivery collaborators to ensure the same.

Our team led the end-to-end research process from tool design and data collection strategy to field implementation and rigorous data analysis. The findings culminated in a detailed impact evaluation report, which not only documented outcomes but also offered:

  • Strategic recommendations for program improvement and scaling

  • Project management and M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) insights

  • Policy-level suggestions to guide broader educational reforms at the block and district levels

This project reinforced NPoC’s capabilities in large-scale education research, evidence-based policy advising and stakeholder-aligned evaluation. Our work enabled S.L.A.T.E and its partners to make informed decisions for the second phase of the program and can also hopefully contribute to systemic thinking in education reform.
