Project Ashakiran – Orchestrating a Zero-Waste Movement

At Nayaneethi Policy Collective (NPoC), project management is more than gantt charts and deadlines, it is the art of weaving vision into lived reality. In Project Ashakiran, we partnered with VentureVillage’s flagship Green City course to ignite a zero-waste revolution across Singaperumal Koil Panchayat, Tamil Nadu.

Guided by our coordination framework, 770-plus students journeyed through 18 immersive sessions that turned classrooms into laboratories of change. We scouted and deployed a cadre of Tamil-speaking trainers, local voices that carried credibility, empathy, and cultural fluency. Their stories, told in the cadence of home, transformed waste into resource, habit into stewardship, theory into action.

Behind the scenes, our team choreographed every moving part: stakeholder alignment with Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India, Max Social Innovations Foundation, and India Cares Foundation; adaptive risk logs that kept momentum steady; and data dashboards that traced each ripple from lesson to landfill diversion. VentureVillage’s pedagogy sparked imagination; our management discipline gave it wings.

The result is more than tidy streets. It is a generation of student-changemakers, families re-thinking consumption, and a panchayat charting its course toward a circular economy. Project Ashakiran affirms our credo: when strategy meets grassroots voice, sustainability ceases to be a buzzword and becomes a community’s collective heartbeat.
