Skill Gap Study for Prachodhan Development Society @ Majuli, Lakhimpur in Assam

NPoC conducted separate Skill Gap Studies for two districts of Assam for Prachodhan Development Services (PDS). The purpose of the studies was to understand the specific skill, education, entrepreneurship and livelihood requirements of the people in Majuli. PDS conducts multiple interventions in these districts, and the study aims to scale and augment existing interventions, and also introducing new interventions.

For the purpose of the study, the NPoC team visited both the districts for 1 week each. The visits were done to interact with government officials, villager heads, NGOs, community leaders, educational institutions, and other skill training agencies in the district. Through these interactions a comprehensive need assessment map of the districts was prepared. This information was combined with secondary data and literature study of the district to understand the potential projected demand for employment and skills in and around these districts. An assessment of the existing projects led by PDS in these districts were also conducted.
