
Market Study for MSSRF Wayanad
We partnered with the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) to conduct a detailed market study on pepper and turmeric grown by tribal and marginal farmers in Wayanad, Kerala. This study was part of MSSRF’s initiative to enhance value addition, marketing of pepper and turmeric. This is expected to result in increased income generation for small and marginal spice farmers in the region.
Our research involved comprehensive field visits across Wayanad, engaging with key stakeholders, including farmers, sellers, exporters, and local market actors. We also focused on consumer perceptions of pepper and turmeric cultivated using organic and traditional means in Wayanad. The study also assessed current market trends and potential avenues for positioning Wayanad’s spices in local, national, and international markets.
Based on these insights, we developed a strategic report that now helps MSSRF’s interventions. We are proud to have contributed to this mission and look forward to the positive transformation it will bring to Wayanad’s spice farmers.
