Our three-hour career workshops, grown into an immersive bootcamp. In the pilots, students' interview skills and confidence rose by a net 56%.
Why
Most career guidance is a one-off talk: passive, one-directional and quickly forgotten. Building on our three-hour DISHA workshops, we wanted to give students the time to discover their strengths, practise and get real feedback.
What we did
We piloted a bootcamp of two to three days with around 50 students each at iLAB-Innovation Laboratory and at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Devagiri, both in Kozhikode. It covers:
- understanding personality, with the Big Five model
- assessing skills with a skill wheel, then building them at gamified activity stations
- writing a resume live, with one-to-one feedback
- group discussions and simulated interviews
- LinkedIn for professional branding
- fellowships, scholarships, internships, freelancing and entrepreneurship
What came of it
We surveyed students before and after the bootcamp:
- a net 60% positive shift in awareness of different sectors
- a net 56% positive shift in interview skills and confidence
- a net 31% positive shift in communication skills
- 83% would recommend it to their peers
Teachers at Devagiri noticed that students who were usually quiet in class stepped forward and spoke with confidence. Students’ most common complaint was that the sessions didn’t feel long enough.
